SAMPLE PROJECTS: Education & Nonprofit

Nonprofit
Save the Sound |
Campaign Communications
I partnered with Andrea Hopkins Design to develop messaging and a case for support for Save the Sound's first major fundraising campaign. With offices in CT and NY, Save the Sound is a research, advocacy, and community engagement organization focused on the health of Long Island Sound and its tributaries. We conducted interviews to better understand their history and impact and then tell their story to prospective campaign donors.

Education
Friends Select School | Admissions Messaging and Viewbook
Longtime client Masters Group Design invited me to serve as creative partner and writer for Friends Select School's admissions marketing materials. We built on their most recent tagline--In the City & Of the City--not only to highlight their connection to Philadelphia as an extended classroom but also to show how they encourage students to do and be many different things (artists & athletes & activists, for example) during their time at Friends Select--and beyond.

Nonprofit
ACLU of North Carolina | Case for Support
The ACLU of North Carolina came to me with a draft case for support that they wanted to develop into a fully designed piece with stronger messaging, more inspiration, and less insider jargon. After a series of interviews with leadership, staff, and clients, I worked with their freelance designer to create a completely revised case while adhering to ACLU national standards for brand and tone.

Nonprofit
CLARIFI| Impact Report and Messaging
Clarifi is a Philadelphia-based financial empowerment organization that provides free counseling and support for low- to moderate-income residents who want to improve their credit, buy a home, reduce debt, or achieve other goals. Working with Masters Group Design, I wrote the copy for an impact report centered around the theme of "Strength in Numbers." We also created a new message platform that featured a revised mission, vision, elevator pitch, value proposition, and key messages.

Education
Villanova Law | Admissions Messaging and Viewbook
In collaboration with art270, I developed creative messaging and a print viewbook for the Charles Widger School of Law at Villanova University. Our research suggested that real Villanovans speaking in first person should be front and center, so we alternated profiles of faculty, students, and alumni with informational spreads. Soon after, I worked on a faculty research promotion campaign that applied a similar approach.

College Possible Philadelphia | Marketing & Development Piece
College Possible helps students in low-income Philadelphia public high schools realize their dreams of going to college. They needed a piece that could tell their story to multiple audiences, including government officials, community partners, school leaders, potential donors, and new Board members. Working with the national organization's graphic designer, I conceived and wrote a publication that captured this organization's critical mission and impact.
