Patient Ed

Cancer Today | Articles

Cancer Today is a quarterly magazine for patients and caregivers published by the American Association for Cancer Research. Over the past several years, I have written several articles on topics related to breast, colorectal, and head and neck cancer, as well as research studies and clinical trials. Most of my work has appeared in the "Forward Look" section, which translates major research findings into lay-friendly language.

Penn Neurosurgery | Capabilities Piece

The Department of Neurosurgery at Penn Medicine wanted a magazine-style promotional book to support its applications for research funding yet also appeal to referring physicians and potential patients. I conducted interviews with every member of the department to capture the essence of their work and wrote the descriptions that accompany their photos. The work was the result of a collaboration with Swivel Studios in Collongswood, NJ.

Young Survival Coalition | Beyond 5 Years

I researched and wrote "Beyond 5 Years: A Navigator for Long-Term Survivors," part of an educational booklet series published by the Young Survival Coalition (YSC). YSC is the nation's premier support organization for young women diagnosed with breast cancer. Topics include physical and emotional side effects, long-term health concerns, lifestyle and wellness, financial issues, relationship matters, and more.

Oregon State University |
Final Campaign Report

In 2005, I partnered with Kelsh/Wilson Design as the lead creative strategist and writer for Oregon State University's first-ever comprehensive campaign, with a goal of $750 million. OSU easily surpassed that goal, raising more than $1 billion in private support. The OSU Foundation invited our team back in 2015 to create a commemorative booklet that would celebrate this landmark achievement, thank major donors, and lay the groundwork for future success in fundraising. I developed the concept and wrote all of the copy for this piece.
