SAMPLE PROJECTS: Patient Education

Patient Ed

Cancer Today | Articles

Cancer Today is a quarterly magazine for patients and caregivers published by the American Association for Cancer Research. Over the past several years, I have written several articles on topics related to breast, colorectal, and head and neck cancer, as well as research studies and clinical trials. Most of my work has appeared in the "Forward Look" section, which translates major research findings into lay-friendly language.

Living Beyond Breast Cancer | Web Content

I started with LBBC as a print publication writer but later transitioned to writing content for LBBC.org, including blog entries, patient profiles, and educational content. Recent assignments have included overhauling outdated sections on Hormonal Therapy and Types of Breast Cancer, as well as articles about immunotherapy, genomic testing, and metastatic breast cancer.

Young Survival Coalition | Beyond 5 Years

I researched and wrote "Beyond 5 Years: A Navigator for Long-Term Survivors," part of an educational booklet series published by the Young Survival Coalition (YSC). YSC is the nation's premier support organization for young women diagnosed with breast cancer. Topics include physical and emotional side effects, long-term health concerns, lifestyle and wellness, financial issues, relationship matters, and more.

Breastcancer.org | Web Content

For nearly 17 years, I partnered with Breastcancer.org, the most-visited breast cancer information resource on the web, as a contributing writer. I researched and wrote signature sections on lymphedema, reconstruction, menopausal symptoms, treatment side effects, and genetic testing and counseling, and more. I also covered topics related to survivorship, end-of-life, and metastatic breast cancer.
