Chester County Hospital | Community Benefit Report 

For many years, I was the lead writer for Penn Medicine-Chester County Hospital's magazine, Synapse. In 2018, I had the opportunity to work with them again as the writer for the hospital's annual community benefit report. I chronicled nurses' efforts to give free flu shots to the homeless and provide healthcare at a regional food bank. I also wrote about the hospital's heart screening events for local SWAT team members, efforts to publicize SMART 911, and its major push to offer diabetes education in Spanish to the large Spanish-speaking communities in Chester County.


Geisinger Health | Geisinger Magazine

From 2015-2018, I served as the founding managing editor of Geisinger Magazine. This 52-page semi-annual glossy publication featured stories and news from throughout Geisinger Health, a 13-member health system with locations throughout central and northeastern Pennsylvania and coastal New Jersey. Working closely with the chief communications officer and chief patient experience officer, I created the template for the first issue and managed a team of writers and photographers to produce five issues total. I also collaborated closely with the magazine's Los Angeles-based design group.


University of Vermont |
Campaign Communications

Working with Snavely Associates, I was the lead strategist and writer for the creative surrounding the University of Vermont's $500 million fundraising campaign. Although the campaign theme was already determined, our challenge was to come up with a concept that would celebrate UVM's unique sense of place while also tying it to exceptional achievement. I wrote the flagship case statement, several school case statements, and the elevator speech and talking points. UVM then applied this language to the campaign website and kickoff celebration.


Children's Hospital of Philadelphia | Campaign Communications

In partnership with Snavely Associates, I conceived and wrote the communications used to inspire prospective donors to support Children's Hospital of Philadelphia's $1 billion campaign--the largest in its history. I researched key messages and wrote a range of materials: the campaign elevator speech, five print case statements, portions of the website, copy for donor-personalized microsites, and social media posts. I also consulted on content for the campaign video and attended on-campus shoots.

Ongoing | Multiple sections

I have been researching and writing articles and major sections for for more than a decade. My most recent assignments have focused on survivorship issues, treatments for metastatic breast cancer, and end-of-life concerns. I also have written multi-page sections on lymphedema, managing menopausal symptoms, and genetic testing.
